3 Ways To Make Exercise More Fun & Rewarding!
When it comes to most things in life, the things we tend to stick with the longest, tend to be those things that are:
A) NECESSARY.
B) ENJOYABLE.
The same is true for exercise and physical activity.
Many people know exercise is beneficial so they begin doing it; however, because they don’t enjoy it and because life can often go on without exercise (i.e., it can feel as though it’s not necessary - until it’s too late, of course) many people stop.
If that sounds like you, hopefully, these 3 tips will help you find more satisfaction out of moving your body!
1) Set An Event Goal
Setting a goal to reach a certain size, or fit into a certain outfit for an event that is highly valuable to you can be a great motivator. Of course, this is a short-term strategy, but it’s a good way to get you back into the swing of things (consistently) if you have fallen off the exercise bandwagon for a while. Make sure your goal is realistic and create a plan to get you to that goal by your required date. Because the event is something that means a lot to you, you’re more likely to feel motivated and more likely to commit to training regularly.
2) Take Up A Sport Or An Activity
I truly believe setting yourself a performance goal is a much stronger motivator than simply having an aesthetic one. Having a performance goal is a way to achieve ongoing consistency with exercise and a great way to challenge (and motivate) yourself physically, mentally, socially (and even spiritually). There are also NUMEROUS different types of sports, so there is something enjoyable for everyone. Whether you want to be part of a team, or not, and whether you’d rather use a ball, a racket, or just your own body, there are so many options to choose from. Sport also continues in seasons and cycles, so there’s always some competition, or some event to work towards!
3) Make It Social
Everything’s better with friends! Some people like to train alone and that’s ok. But be honest with yourself. If you’re somebody who vibes off being with other people, then why not go to the gym with friends, start a running group, or even make swimming or riding your bikes a part of your date night? Bringing others in on your journey is a great way to keep you motivated and consistent.
If you need that higher level of accountability or someone to tell you exactly what you need to do, then a personal trainer might be a good option for you. Check out this post to see the 5 types of people who need a personal trainer.
